Cosco Busan pilot charged with two felony counts

The pilot of the container ship that struck the Bay Bridge in November and spilled more than 50,000 gallons of fuel oil into San Francisco Bay was charged today with two felony counts of lying in annual physical exams about the medications he was taking.

The Dangers of Foxtails to Dogs

Once foxtail grasses dry out, the seed detaches easily and sticks readily to fur. Foxtail seeds
can enter a dog’s body in a variety of ways and once they enter, they act like an animated fishhook: the
seed continues to move forward through the dog’s body, and because of tiny barbs, cannot move
backwards. Foxtail sees are tenacious, and can be deadly.

More on the Burrowing Owl Project

“Funding for the (the $57,000) project at the Eastshore State Park has been provided by the Joint Powers Authority Agency, formed by the cities of Albany, Berkeley, El Cerrito, Emeryville and Richmond, to account for the owl habitat lost when the Tom Bates Regional Sports Complex south of Golden Gate Fields was approved. The sports complex is scheduled to open in September.” – cbs5.com

“This was a trade-off agreed on when the future ballfields . were planned: It is hoped that Burrowing Owls on the ballfields will choose to relocate to the Plateau.” – Albany Waterfront Coalition
